Project 1: Self-portrait
TASK
In this project, we were asked to compose a self-portrait by utilizing one or more principles of design
Our self's
- How I see myself
- How others see me
- Experiences
- Interests
- Thoughts
Self-portrait
- Self representation: visual depiction of self
- Exercise of self-exploration (how I see myself, what I'm feeling, and what I want to be seen by others)
ABOUT ME:
Fig 1
I m a huge Science Fiction fan
INSPIRATION
Vang Goh paintings are the perfect example of what textured drawings look like and how I want my final product to look like. This Mosaic textured drawing
Fig 2.2
I like this reference because the textures on the face and the dark pallet, although I imagine mine to b a bit lighter as well
Fig 2.3
Taken from an Anime
I really love the realistic planetary vibes. I like the landscape of it as well but I want my planet to have more mountains. I was thinking of drawing myself as this guy but I felt like its not clear enough and it loses the emphasis principle of it.
SKETCHES
Fig 3.1
Quick Sketch of Planets and distance
Fig 3.4
Final idea sketch
I really like this one because I'm still the main focus with cool sci-fi background
FINAL PRODUCT
REFLECTION
Although I traced my face digitally, this assignment was somewhat challenging because it took me a long time to blend colors and add the textures. In the end I m really satisfied with the product because it was cool not only drawing myself for the first time but also designing another planet from my imagination. Although I had better expectations and ideas, I unfortunately didn't reach the level of skill of my imagination. This assignment is actually very useful because as an architecture student this helps me collage my ideas for example drawing a background with a subject together and how textures could fit and harmonize together.
